Bohemian Bold cooking and living is about being adventurous. Like a nomad or gypsy, I push the limits, albeit always using class and decorum, of each and every day of life. My life is like an orange—I want to squeeze every drop of sweet nectar out of each day, and when that’s all gone, I’m going to zest the rind for more flavors. The little things in life become the exhilarating and big things—it’s not about money or riches—it’s about looking at what you have, what you are doing and creating your own nirvana. So…dance, sing, whistle, laugh, floss, travel…when the day’s gone—it’s gone—forever.

My nomad Boho nature is the drive that fuels me to travel, explore & take risks~~there’s so much out there in our big enticingworld, and I want to experience as much of it while I can and while I’m still able to schlepp through airports, lug baggage, and not be upended by the unexpected. I’m always up to finding things ... Read More »

Finding family you never knew you had is one of the interesting benefits of Facebook! In my first married life that gave me four wonderful sons, I was a ‘D’Antoni’—a tight, loving, competitive, and exceptionally athletic family. That’s how I connected on FB with Antonella D’Antoni—never did I think that a little over two years later ... Read More »

It goes without saying that no trip begins without drama…a ‘slight’ glitch that makes your heart flutter, but in this case, almost go into cardiac arrest! So Ben and I get to the new, fancy dancy Myrtle Beach International airport, really it’s first-class and styling all the way. Since the kiosk won’t take my FF number, we decide ... Read More »

Cooking contests require a great deal of brain power and creativity, plus flat out hard work. Most of us foodie contest junkies basically work alone in our laboratories, our kitchens, as we go from our wheels turning in our heads to create a new recipe that fits the contest guidelines to actually designing and making the recipes—oftentimes, several times because ... One Saturday morning when Ben, my hubster, came into the kitchen he sat down at the island work table. It looked like a bomb had gone off…the table was laden with everything—cheeses, fruits, breads, greens, butter, meats, veggies. I knew what I was doing, but he didn’t. I’d seen a contest for a grilled cheese sandwich with Wisconsin Cheese and ... Read More »

Remember the movie ‘Rocky’ and the many sequels~~I, II, III, IV, V, Rocky Balboa, and was there a Rocky VII? That’s what I feel like at this very moment as I write this post about the Pillsbury Bake-Off. However, unlike Rocky who got started in boxing competition to prove himself , his worth, and earn self-respect, my reason for throwing ... Read More »

Since technology is so advanced in photography even a novice can quickly learn to capture beautiful pictures. Almost weekly I see the prices for fabulous cameras, lenses, accessories, etc. drop in price at places like Costco, Amazon, Best Buy. Having the right equipment and taking mouth-watering pictures of food is imperative for a food blogger, and, even more essential if ... Read More »

Cooking contests are brutal…you never know what’s going to turn on the judging panel or turn them off. Probably the Mack daddy of the cooking recipe contest circuit is the ‘Pillsbury Bake Off’—this year,
2013, is the 46th Pillsbury Bake-Off. I’ve never entered it before, and decided to get out of the balcony and into the ring this year.
The first ... Read More »

Looking forward to my first event at our local Anthropologie retail store! Why Anthropologie? Well, they’re a brand that personifies Ally’s Kitchen, Bohemian Bold cooking and living, and the adventurous lifestyle that makes each day worth breathin’ for!

I’m documenting this while my brain’s still groggy, foggy and operating on slow motion mode after only a few hours of sleep recently. It’s hard to capture the magic of what happened in the past couple of days in words and here on paper. To bring you up to speed on this adventure–I entered a contest sponsored through Campo Viejo ...
