I loved loved the movie ‘Walk the Line’~~about the life of Johnny Cash. I loved the ending when all was good and you saw the little kids playing with the homemade telephone at June and Johnny’s home~~Johnny’s Mama and Daddy were there for a family gathering~~a joyful occasion after so much strife, turmoil and heartache for all of them. You probably made telephones out of tin cans, too, as a kid~~well, if you’re form that era like me!  And, there’s even a game called ‘Kick the Can’~~yep, played back in the day before electronics, Internet, cell phone, and gizmos and gadgets~~as Wiki describes, ‘this was a game based on skill, strategy and stealth…it’s kind of like hide and seek, tag and capture the flag’ rolled into one.

Tin cans can be works of art~~re-fashioned and re-created into so many other uses. Besides an individual can, you could also harness several together using twine and glue to create an artwork three-dimensional collage of cans for your table’s centerpiece!  If mount them to a background and hang on the wall~~perfect for putting your makeup brushes in or storing loose change! And, don’t forget the spray paint…color the outside a gorgeous turquoise or another color and you have masterpieces for display with your own ‘stuff’ in them!

If you want to explore tin can baking, be sure to read carefully what and what not to do~~there’s plenty out there on the Internet about this topic, and here are just a few related articles to start you off!  Here are some of the things that I’ve done with cleaned tin cans~~after cleaning these tin cans really well, I put them in the oven at 350 and baked them (empty) for about 30 minutes!
