Tangy and sweet figs and balsamic. Bring them all together and what do you have…
…sweet and savory ‘tulip’ strawberries that can be a dessert…a snack…an appetizer…a salad…or if you’re adventurous, your entire meal! So simple and easy to do…so chic and impressive on your plate…why not pop a bottle of champagne and indulge–life’s short–enjoy!
Makes: 6 servings (3 strawberries each)
What you need:
18 large strawberries
8 ounces crumbled Maytag Blue Cheese (or your favorite brand)
6-8 Mejool figs
¾ cup white wine
3 tbl fig jam
2 tbl balsamic vinegar
1/8 tsp kosher salt
What you do:
Slice tops off strawberries making a flat surface. Flip strawberry upside down (each standing securely) and slice midway through each with a crisscross making an opening that resembles a ‘tulip’.
Stuff the blue cheese crumbles into the strawberries.
Cut figs into pieces and place in food processor with white wine, fig jam, balsamic vinegar, and salt. Pulse several times until a blended mixture. Then put mixture in a small sauce pan over medium heat. Bring to simmering boil cooking until mixture reduces and thickens some. Remove from heat.
Drizzle fig balsamic sauce over strawberries!
